Install Ledgerline on your device

Ledgerline works in any browser, but you can also install it. Installed, it opens in its own window with no address bar, it launches from your home screen, taskbar or Dock like any other app, and it opens even when the signal drops. There is nothing to download from an app store, and installing itself costs nothing and changes nothing about what you pay. It is the same account and the same books either way.

Your browser can install Ledgerline directly. No need to follow the steps below.

Android phone or tabletYour device

Use Google Chrome. This installs a real app, not a bookmark.

Open ais.arcoute.com in Chrome and sign in as usual.
Tap the three-dot menu to the right of the address bar.
Tap Install and create shortcut, then tap Install. Older versions of Chrome call this Add to Home screen instead; either one is the right thing.
Confirm. You can change the name first if you want. Ledgerline then appears in your app drawer and on your home screen.

If Chrome offers first. Chrome sometimes shows its own install banner on the page before you get to the menu. Tapping that does exactly the same thing. Chrome decides on its own when to show it, so don’t wait for it. The menu always works.

iPhone and iPadYour device

Safari is the path Apple documents, and the one we recommend.

Open ais.arcoute.com in Safari.
Tap the … (More) button in the address bar, then tap Share. If your Safari tab bar sits at the top or the bottom, you’ll see the Share button directly. Tap that instead.
Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen. If it is not there, scroll to the bottom, tap Edit Actions, and add it.
Leave Open as Web App switched on. It is on by default. Switching it off gives you an ordinary bookmark that opens in the browser instead of an app.
Change the name if you want, then tap Add.

You will be asked to sign in once more. iPhone and iPad keep an installed app’s data separate from Safari’s, so the first time you open the installed Ledgerline it will not know you were already signed in. Nothing has been lost. Your books are on our servers, not on the phone.

Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOSYour device

Google Chrome

Open ais.arcoute.com and sign in as usual.
Look at the right-hand end of the address bar for the install icon, an arrow pointing down into a monitor. Click it, then click Install.
No icon there? Open the three-dot menu at the top right, then Cast, save, and share, then Install page as app. Depending on your version it may simply read Install Ledgerline.

Microsoft Edge

Open ais.arcoute.com.
An App available icon appears in the address bar. Click it, then click Install.
Edge then offers to pin Ledgerline to your taskbar or Start menu.

Either way Ledgerline gets its own window and its own taskbar or Dock entry.

Not the same as Create shortcut. Chrome also has a Create shortcut item. That one only makes a desktop bookmark. It won’t open in its own window. Use Install.

Mac, using SafariYour device

Safari on macOS calls it something different again. It is the same idea.

Open ais.arcoute.com in Safari.
From the menu bar choose File, then Add to Dock. You can also click the Share button in the toolbar and choose Add to Dock there.
Type the name you want, then click Add.
Ledgerline is saved to the Applications folder inside your home folder, and opens from the Dock or from Spotlight.

Other browsersYour browser

Samsung Internet, Firefox or Opera on Android. All of them can install Ledgerline. Open the browser’s own menu and look for the option to add the page to your home screen. The exact wording changes between versions and between phone makers, so look for the words home screen in whatever menu your browser shows.
Chrome, Edge or Firefox on iPhone or iPad. These can add Ledgerline to the Home Screen from their Share menu, the same way Safari does. Safari is still the one we recommend, because it is the most predictable.
Firefox on Windows can do this too, from Firefox 143 onwards. Open ais.arcoute.com and click Add tab to taskbar in the address bar. Ledgerline then gets its own window and its own taskbar icon.
Firefox on Mac or Linux can’t install web apps yet. Use Chrome or Edge there if you want the app window, or simply keep Ledgerline open in a Firefox tab. Everything works; it just won’t get an icon of its own.

After you install

The installed app and the browser tab are the same Ledgerline. Same account, same books, same subscription. Installing changes nothing about what you pay.
Installing from Chrome and installing from Edge gives you two separate app windows. Both still open your same account and your same books, but each one signs in on its own, so you’ll be asked for your password in each. Pick one and stay with it.
Ledgerline opens without a connection, but saving needs the internet. Books, balances and tax figures are never shown to you from an old copy. That is deliberate: this is a book of record, and a stale figure is worse than no figure.
To remove it. On Android, press and hold the icon, then Uninstall. On iPhone or iPad, press and hold the icon, then Remove App. If you installed from Chrome or Edge, open Ledgerline, open its menu and choose Uninstall. If you added it to the Dock from Safari on a Mac, open the Applications folder inside your home folder and drag Ledgerline to the Trash. Removing the app doesn’t close your account or stop a subscription. See the refund policy if that’s what you meant to do.
